There are currently three main methods of remote access for LGfL schools provided as part of an LGfL subscription. These are:
•Freedom2Roam
•RAv3
•RD Gateway
Information on these different methods is contained within this section of the guide.
Freedom2Roam
Freedom2Roam launched in 2020 and replaces RAv3. It is based on Cisco technologies as well as Apache Guacamole. Freedom2Roam retains the VPN functionality offered by RAv3 through the AnyConnect client but provides an upgraded experience when connecting to devices through a browser. The RAv3 offering relies on Java and ActiveX which are technologies that are not supported with modern versions of browsers. Freedom2Roam on the other hand replaces this with a HTML5 based offering that greatly improves device and browser support.

RAv3
RAv3 has been replaced by Freedom2Roam, however it is still currently accessible whilst everyone transitions to the new platform. It is a dedicated Remote Access system based upon Cisco technologies.
RD Gateway
Within the LGfL network, a different option for schools wishing to grant remote access to students as well as staff is also available. This is done by users logging into the network through the RD Gateway using their USO credentials and then accessing the school's terminal server with their local login (if this is different from USO)
To use the LGfL RD Gateway, a school will first need to express interest by raising a support case, stating the internal IP address of the terminal server to which access should be given and the group of users (staff, staff & students, or other) that should be granted access.
