Introduction

The support site is a secure site used to carry out management functions relating to Atomwide-provided services and USO accounts.

Every member of staff with a USO account can access the support site. The options available to each user upon logging in are determined by the user's profile and the services which are subscribed to.

The majority of the functions within the support site are restricted to Nominated Contacts, although there are also certain sections that can only be configured by a headteacher.

Nominated Contacts should use the site to maintain USO accounts and data. They are also able to configure different services such as Email, Remote Access and Web filtering. Additionally they are able to contact the service desk by raising a support case.

Accessing the site via a slow connection

For users needing to access the support site via a slow internet connection, the dynamic menus can be suppressed to improve the site's responsiveness.

At the very top of each support site page, there is a blue link saying Suppress dynamic menus.

If this is clicked, the main menu tabs will no longer pop-out automatically when the mouse hovers over them (and the link at the top of the page will change to say Generate dynamic menus so that users can revert to the previous (default) behaviour whenever they wish).

The chosen setting is stored with a user's IP address so that accessing the support site from different locations will allow users to choose the most suitable setting for that location and the available connection speed.
